Minnehaha County, located in southeastern South Dakota established in 1862, encompasses 810 square miles.  Minnehaha County is the largest county in the state in terms of population. At the beginning of 2025, the population estimate for Minnehaha Country was 213,800, Sioux Falls reached 219,588.

The County maintains three rural parks. In conjunction with the City of Sioux Falls, the County maintains the Siouxland Library System and the Siouxland Heritage Museum System.
