City of Baltic Rejoins Sioux Metro Growth Alliance, Strengthening Regional Collaboration and Growth
BALTIC, S.D. – The City of Baltic and the Baltic Area Development Foundation (BADF) has officially rejoined the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance (SMGA), reaffirming its commitment to regional collaboration and economic development across the Sioux Falls metropolitan area.
As one of the fastest-growing regions in South Dakota, the Sioux Metro benefits from strong partnerships among its communities. By rejoining SMGA, Baltic will participate in collaborative efforts focused on economic growth, housing development, workforce attraction, infrastructure planning, and regional advocacy.
“As Baltic continues to grow, regional collaboration becomes even more important,” said Zach Nebben, BADF President. “By rejoining the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance, we’re reaffirming our commitment to regional collaboration, strategic growth, and creating new opportunities for the community we serve.”
“This decision is about building a stronger future for Baltic,” said Mayor Brian McGreevy. “The Sioux Metro region continues to grow, and it’s important that Baltic has a voice at the table. We look forward to collaborating with neighboring communities, sharing ideas, and working together to create lasting opportunities for our area.”
Baltic was a founding member of the Minnehaha County Economic Development Association (MCEDA), the predecessor organization to what is now SMGA. MCEDA was formed in 1991 through the collaboration of the Sioux Falls Development Foundation and the Minnehaha County Rural Mayor’s Association. The mission was to provide a regional approach to economic development that would assist all members to benefit from the successes of one another.
“Given our history with the community of Baltic, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome them back into the association they helped form,” said Tyler Torden, SMGA President & CEO. “Baltic plays an important role in the continued success of Minnehaha County and our region overall. Our team is looking forward to collaborating more with BADF and the city leadership on Baltic’s next chapter.”
The City of Baltic left SMGA in 2023. They now join 17 other member municipalities of SMGA in supporting a regional approach to growth, ensuring that development throughout the greater Sioux Falls Metro area continues to benefit the region’s residents, businesses, and future generations.
